Chef Jelian Steward Bio
Jelian B. Steward, a native from Chicago’s south side, is the owner and operator of Signature Taste by Jelian and President of T and J Steward Enterprises Incorporated. From hairstylist to multiple levels in the nursing profession, Jelian is known to keep herself busy doing what she loves. Jelian was introduced to cooking by her grandmother at an early age and, by the time she was eleven years old, Jelian could handle the kitchen alone. Jelian developed an obsession with chefs, cookbooks, and cooking shows. She was fascinated with their abilities to express, heal, and help people through food. Jelian began cooking for family and friends, and once the word traveled, she expanded to cooking for co-workers, businesses, and a host of private events. Signature Taste by Jelian was officially established in 2016 when Jelian was asked to cater a cancer awareness event of 150 people. It was that defining moment that Jelian knew that she could connect to people with her food, and from then her brand was created. Signature Taste by Jelian is all about how to create dishes that relate to your palate. Signature Taste by Jelian’s website is full of recipes, cooking demonstration videos, and stories of Jelian’s experience with life and food. The “Exclusively Yours'' side of Signature Taste by Jelian provides personal chef services, catering services, meal planning and preparation, event planning and more. Jelian’s goal is to teach others how to add their signature taste to their meals by learning different foods and cultures. In 2018 Signature Taste by Jelian debuted her cooking show to showcase her love of food on an independent tv network FAWOC (For All Women of Color) on the Roku platform. In 2022, Jelian continued her STBJ journey with the goal of encouraging and inspiring all those who read her story in her non-traditional cookbook, “A Good Conversation About Life & Food”. Jelian hopes this book will set a platform to help people get through hardships and struggles with recipes of faith, encouragement, love, and of course food. T & J Steward Enterprises Incorporated is the parent company of Signature Taste by Jelian and Bernard Terrell Cigars and assist other entrepreneurs with support and mentorship. As the business manager to Bernard Terrell Cigars, Jelian is heavily involved in the marketing of products, launching of new business ventures for the company, hosting events and company functions.
